Larissa Crawford takes immense pride in passing down her rich Métis and Jamaican heritage to her daughter, Zyra. With over 14 years of dedicated experience, Larissa has made significant contributions as a published researcher, policy advisor, and restorative circle keeper, focusing on Indigenous rights, anti-racism, and climate justice.
Following her graduation from York University in 2018, Larissa earned a Double Major Honours B.A. in Communication Studies and International Development Studies with the highest distinction of Summa Cum Laude. In 2019, she embarked on a journey to establish Future Ancestors Services, a pioneering social enterprise owned by Indigenous and Black individuals, led by youth, and committed to advancing climate justice and breaking down systemic barriers through the lenses of anti-racism and ancestral accountability.
In recognition of her exceptional contributions, Larissa has received numerous accolades, including the York University One to Watch Alumni Award, acknowledgment in Complex Canada’s 20 Creators Who Will Shape the Next 20 Years of The Culture, and inclusion in prestigious lists such as Women of Influence’s Top 25 and Refinery Canada’s 29 Powerhouses. Additionally, she has been recognized by HuffPost as one of the 26 Indigenous Influencers to Follow and honored with the Pollution Probe Equity in Sustainability Award. Larissa’s partnerships with global brands like Merrell, Nike, and The Body Shop further demonstrate her commitment to amplifying the representation and voices of her communities on an international scale.
